Local nonprofits feeling recession’s sting
Funding down, but need for services up
The recession has hit San Diego nonprofits with greater demand for services at the same time that funding has decreased, according to a University of San Diego study to be released today. The study of more than 125 of the region’s largest nonprofit and philanthropic organizations found that 31 percent reported very negative effects of the recession, and 58 percent somewhat negative.
