Donor Stories

Oliphant Family

"The Rancho Santa Fe Foundation has become a valuable resource for our family's philanthropic planning. Through the two donor advised funds that we have established at the Foundation, we have been able to carry out our family's mission without forming our own family foundation. The RSFF has proven to be more efficient, cost effective and has eliminated all of our administrative burden. -- Don and Judy Oliphant

Goldsmith Family

"We wish we had learned earlier how easily and efficiently our philanthropy could be handled through a community foundation. We took the opportunity of setting up donor advised funds for each of our seven children so they could get into a really helpful process for supporting and nurturing their charitable interests. None of them live anywhere near Rancho Santa Fe, but all of them are comfortable with the relationship with the Foundation facilitating their chosen charitable interests anywhere. They can refresh their fund balances any time, and we can direct additional funds to their donor advised funds even as part of any estate distribution (this arrangement has legs!)" -- Catherine and Bob Goldsmith

Helen Woodward Animal Center

"The Rancho Santa Fe Foundation has always supported the important work of Helen Woodward Animal Center and our beneficial programs for animals and people. The Foundation has provided grants over the years to both our humane education program that revolves around animal-centered storytelling and our Therapeutic Riding program which gives physically and mentally challenged riders daily lessons to improve their balance and muscle coordination as well as their cognitive skills and focus. The Center’s endowment fund with the Foundation is an important part of our effort to build long-term investments to ensure our future and that of our programs. The community trusts and embraces the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation and we are honored to partner with them." -- Michael Arms, Executive Director

Family Literacy Foundation

"On behalf of thousands of beneficiaries, Family Literacy Foundation would like to thank the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation for their support of our mission. You have been an important partner in the overall success of our organization, assisting us to take significant steps toward the fulfillment of our vision for all children to be prepared for success in reading and school. Our endowment at the Foundation is well managed and will grow over time to enhance the work that we do." -- Betty Mohlenbrock, Founder

San Pasqual Academy

The Rancho Santa Fe community is leading the way in providing a bridge to knowledge, hope and support for the foster teens of San Pasqual Academy – the first-in-the-nation, co-educational, residential high school for foster teens. The Foundation has contributed some of its own un-restricted funds in collaboration with funds from other donors to fund the completion of the Health and Wellness Center on campus, as well as the Alumni Housing project.

Rancho Santa Fe Review Newspaper

“We can’t always do it ourselves”.
“The Rancho Santa Fe Review knew from longtime experience that the best way to raise a significant amount of money to donate to the victims of Hurricane Katrina would be to team with the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation -– a top organization of highest professionalism and reputation -– and the generous people of the Rancho Santa Fe community”.

Anonymous Donor

“We like the efficient and timely reporting process of the Rancho Santa Foundation. Our Fund Status Report is available two weeks after the end of the quarter, and it clearly shows the gifts into and grants out of the fund, with a simple but accurate accounting of our funds investment performance. We have supported many non-profit organizations over the years, large and small, but this is the best system we have seen”

RSF School Endowment

"The Rancho Santa Fe Foundation’s careful, sage management of the Endowment’s long-term assets enables us to focus entirely on our mission of keeping class size to a maximum of 20 students…making the school amongst the best in California." -- Lindy Delaney, Superintendent
